Hours and Appointments The regular office hours for patient appointments are: • Monday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 • Wednesday from 8:00 a.m. to noon • Dr. Thomas J. Blumenfeld, Tuesday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to noon • Dr. William Bargar, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 • Dr. Steven L. Schule, Wednesday and Thursday afternoons from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Calls for Dr. Schule assistant should be made on weekday mornings. This schedule sometimes fluctuates due to emergency surgery or the doctors being out of town. Telephone The doctor or the office nurse will make every effort to return a non emergency phone call within 24 hours. After hours, weekends and non-emergency calls will be relayed to the office by the answering service on the next working day. It is difficult for the medical assistants to return or take calls on their patient days. Please keep the following in mind; Calls for Dr. Blumenfeld's medical assistant should be made Tuesdays and Thursdays. Calls for Dr. Bargar's medical assistant should be Monday and Wednesday afternoons and Friday mornings. Do not hesitate to leave a message on their voice mail. You will not be billed or charged for telephone consultations UNLESS there are unusual circumstances or the call is extremely lengthy. Emergency During or after office hours should you have a major emergency, call 911 and follow their instructions . Notify them who your orthopaedic doctor is and ask a family member to notify the doctor as soon as possible. When the doctor is out of town, the covering physician will handle any emergency calls. If you have already had surgery, and the doctor is unavailable, you may be referred to your internist or referring doctor depending on the problem. Prescriptions When you need a refill on your prescription, contact your pharmacy. If physician approval is required, the pharmacy will contact the office. It is not necessary for you to call our office. Please allow at least 24-48 hours for authorization. Over holidays, after hours and on weekends renewals or new prescriptions will not be handled until the next working day. The prescription line is (916) 733-8299.
